FAQs

WHAT  IS  MICROBLADING?

Microblading is a cosmetic tattoo procedure where pigment is implanted beneath the the skin by using a special hand-tool which houses a row of micro sterile, disposable needles forming a blade that creates the appearance of hair where it is sparse. Microblading creates fullness enhancing the appearance of the brows.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MICROBLADING, MICRO+SHADING, AIRY POWDER BROWS & HYPERREALISM?

MICROBLADING

MICROBLADING

Microblading is recommended for clients with fuller brows or maybe just needs more shape and density in some areas. It gives a very natural appearance and blending each hair stroke into the natural form of the brow hair.

MICROBLADING+SHADING

Microblading + Shading is great for clients with sparse areas or little to no hair. Shading gives the appearance of a more saturated brow but only focusing on areas that are needed. This is also a great combination for clients who are active, have an oily skin type and spend a lot of time outdoors. Our goal is to keep the brows looking natural!

AIRY POWDER BROWS

AIRY POWDER BROWS

Airy Brows are ideal for clients who love a naturally structured brow. It gives more definition on the bottom of the brow and an airy appearance above. This technique is also recommended for clients who are active, have an oily skin type and spend a lot of time outdoors.

HYPERREALISM

NOW OFFERING THIS NEW SERVICE!

Hyperrealism is a method of cosmetic tattooing originating in Russia and is performed with a machine and a single ultra thin needle that creates soft airy hair strokes, resulting in a unique designer brow. It is a highly detailed and creative method that allows the artist to create dimension, layers, volume and texture with no sharp edges resulting in a very soft, natural, fluffier “undone” 3D effect.

It is considered THE hardest technique to learn and perform in the industry.

Due to the unique and delicate nature of this particular treatment, previous Microblading clients of Wildflower Beauty & Brows are NOT eligible for this service unless the previous tattoo is 100% faded & approved by the Artist first. If you’re an existing client & think you may be a candidate, please text us clear pictures of your brows with no makeup on them for approval!

This method is specifically beneficial for individuals with the following:

  • Trichotillomania

  • No hair or very little to fine hair (this is not recommended for thick coarse hair)

  • Those who are in remission from Chemo or Radiation (Doctors consent is required).

  • ALL Ages, but especially those 45 years or older who have very thin, delicate facial skin.

  • Autoimmune compromised (those with suppressed immune systems)

If you are unsure if your are a candidate, please email rachelle@wildflowerbeautyandbrows.com with any concerns and a full face picture with no makeup on your brows

DOES IT HURT?

A topical anesthetic cream or gel is used to numb the area before and during the procedure. Pain level may vary depending upon each individual. Please note heightened sensitivity may occur during menstrual cycle.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

There are several stages which include; numbing, outlining the desired shape, the actual process of this procedure, and the fine tuning of the finished process. This usually takes roughly 2-2.5 hours.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

Microblading fades and the overall shape shrinks in size over time. It is dependent on skin type and lifestyle as it can effect the longevity of your cosmetic tattoo - we can not guarantee specific results. It is important to schedule a follow-up appointment after your initial treatment in 6-8 weeks for final evaluation and additional treatment to perfect your brow shape. After the 2nd treatment, touch-ups may be needed approximately after 18-24 months depending upon each individual.

HOW WILL I KNOW IF I NEED A TOUCH UP?

The best results generally come from a two step process. Touch ups allow us to analyze how the color regenerates beneath the skin and add in areas that may have healed incorrectly. Healed results are unique to each client and we do our best to create a consistent experience. Touch ups are beneficial for color restoration, shape correction, and/or any fine tuning the client desires and are highly recommended.

DO DIFFERENT SKIN TYPES REACT DIFFERENTLY TO MICROBLADING?

In short, yes. However, healed results are unique to each client. In our experience, dry skin typically heals to a finer (crisp) finish, while oily skin typically leads to a thicker (soft) healed stroke. Results vary and can be attributed to a number of factors including; skin type, lifestyle, aftercare, and environmental exposure.

ARE THERE ANY REASONS WHY I MAY BE INELIGIBLE FOR MICROBLADING?

You must be 18+ to receive a service at Wildflower Beauty + Brows. As a safety precaution, we refrain from working on individuals who are pregnant or nursing. If you have previously microbladed eyebrows by another artist or are a male client, we do require a visual consultation via email before you are eligible to book an appointment. This is to ensure expectations and achievable results coincide with one another. If you are diabetic, you must insure your diabetes is well-controlled. High blood sugar levels can complicate the healing process. We also refrain from working on individuals who are going through chemotherapy because they are at higher risks of bleeding and infection.

IS IT TIME FOR A REFRESH (FOR RETURNING CLIENTS)?

After the initial 6-8 weeks touch up a refresh can be booked after a year to two years, and sometimes even three! It depends on pigment retention, clients lifestyle and skin type. We ask our clients to send us a photo and/or video prior to booking their revisit to ensure a refresh is necessary. We truly care about the integrity of the skin and recommend clients to wait until the pigment has faded about 50% and strokes are not as visible. This gives the artist an opportunity to recreate something new.

HOW TO DETERMINE IF IT’S TOO SOON TO BOOK A REFRESH/REVISIT (FOR RETURNING CLIENTS)?

It is too soon to book a refresh when the brows still have an overall shape. It is normal for the front of the brow to shrink and fade, more so than the rest of the brow. This is due to an oily t-zone.

Hair strokes are still prominently visible

Still has a lot of saturation and darkness throughout the brow

APPOINTMENT DAY

If possible, please attend your appointment with a cleansed face. A workable surface is key to a successful session.

Please ensure you come to the appointment well hydrated and well fed. The process takes several hours and we want to ensure you're in a state of comfort.

Sensitivity is heightened during menstrual cycles.

DUE TO COVID-19 NO GUESTS ARE PERMITTED WITHIN THE STUDIO, PLEASE ATTEND YOUR APPOINTMENT SOLO

Aftercare

Note: Each result is unique to the client and the information below only acts as a guideline

THE HEALING PROCESS

What to Expect in the First 6-8 weeks:

Intensified color and swelling are part of the initial stages of healing. Be patient. Do not freak out. The intensity should regress within 7 days. The sensation can be comparable to that of a slight burn and minimal scabbing and/or flaking may take place. Refrain from picking at your brows as you may run the risk of removing pigment in the process. The true vibrancy of your cosmetic tattoo is achieved between weeks 6 and 8, in the time leading up to then you’ll experience a slight loss in color before it begins to regenerate as your skin naturally exfoliates.

THE HEALED RESULTS

Caring for my New Brows

You made it! Celebrate by sleeping in a little longer each day and enjoy your newfound free time. To preserve your completely healed results; apply sunscreen regularly, hats and larger sunglasses are encouraged, and avoid over exposure to the sun. Chlorine, glycol acid, microdermabrasion, and other cosmetic products can lighten the pigment with repeated use. When getting any procedures, whether it be cosmetic or not, done to your face please let the individual performing the service know about your microbladed brows and continue at your own discretion. We are not responsible for any changes made to your brows in its reaction to any additional services you may receive.
